interviews


Interview 1

Monday 20th February 2012
Location: W103
Time: 1050
Interviewee: Abdullah Eissa
Interviewers: Mr Hedley, old Ahmed and new Ahmed
Position: Electrical engineering

Mr Hedley begins the interview with welcoming Abdullah and introduces the other interviewers. Abdullah is the first one who does the interview; let us see how he did. First question from Mr Hedley was "talk about yourself?". Abdullah answered fluently because he has wonderful English. Mr Hedley asked another question “why do you choose our company to work at?” Abdullah answered: high salary, facilities and working in both HQ and factory.
Old Ahmed took the turn from Mr Hedley. Old Ahmed asked Abdullah “can you work under pressure?” The answer was “yes” and Abdullah completed “when I was in college I experienced pressure times and came out of there successfully".
The questions of new Ahmed were tricky and he asked Abdulla about his greatest strength. Abdullah answered very well that, he was always optimistic. I think this is a great answer and shows his high spirit.
At the end, the time for Abdullah’s questions came. Abdullah asked firstly “what jobs will an electrical engineer do?” Old Ahmed answered this one. The second question was “what is the difference between onshore and offshore?” Old Ahmed answered and explained the difference was exactly the difference in the salary.


Interview 2

Interviewee: Rashed
Interviewers: New Ahmed and old Ahmed
Position: ADEWA, electrical engineering

Mr Hedley, new Ahmed and old Ahmed made an interview for Rashed. After welcoming, Mr Hedley asked Rashed to introduce himself. Rashed introduced well and shortly. Old Ahmed begins the questions with the question about the reasons for choosing the job in ADEWA.
Rashed said he is an electrical engineer graduated from ADMC and finished successfully a program of training and wants to be one of the employees in the authority. Then old Ahmed asked another question about if he can work under pressure, and Rashed said he is ready for everything such as the work outside in plant or in the office. The turn is going to new Ahmed to ask. He asked Rashed three questions about the salary, goals and hobbies. Rashed answered well. He wants a salary between Dhs 35-40,000; he hopes to be a manager in future. About his hobbies he said he likes playing football usually at weekends in Alyahar club in Al Ain.
Finally Mr Hedley gave Rashed the chance to ask questions if he wanted and Rashed asked only one question about his job title; the interviewers told him he will be in the plant first before he takes his place in the authority offices.




Interview 3

Wednesday 15th Feb. 2012

Time: 1030
Interviewee: Yousef
Interviewers: Mr. Hedley, Abdullah Eissa and Mohd Abbas
Position: electrical engineering

The first question from Abdullah to Yousef is about himself. Yousef answered well and gave enough information about his life. He said his age is 22 and he lives in Baniyas. He wants to work as an electrical engineer in the city of the future, Masdar.
Abbas asked Yousef about his fitness; he said he makes diet and exercises to reduce his weight and get a healthy body. After that Abbas asked him what job he wants. Yousef replied he wants to be a manager. Abdullah asked other questions about the job and salary and all these Yousef answered well. Also he said he wants more salary to work at weekends, and he can work under pressure. Although he hasn’t experience he wants a salary between Dhs 30-40,000.
Finally Hedley asked to know if he is serious or not about Masdar: Yousef, can you imagine locals living in Masdar? But Yousef is smart and answered this is difficult but their life will be happy in Masdar.



Interview 4

Monday 20thFebruary 2012

Interviewee: Ameer

Interviewers: Hedley, Salem& Yousef

Position: Electrical Engineer, EMAL


Hedley welcomed Ameer and asked him to introduce himself. He is 18 years old and he finished his major at ADMC. Also he heard about the company in the EMAL presentation at the school. He got some information about how the work will be. In electrical power the duty will be shifts by two days working and 4 days off.


Yousef: what is your greatest strength? He is good in physics and math.


Salem: what are your goals? Be a good engineer and have a good position in the company.Second question are you able to work under pressure? He didn’t have any problem, but he didn’t have any experience.


Ameer asked if he can complete his master’s. Yousef: we will allow you but after two years.What will be my responsibility? Be punctual. Any safety I must follow? There is a 4 week course to give you ideas and tell you what you need in your job.


Interview 5

Monday: 20th Feb 2012

Time: 1044
interviwee: Khaled
interviewres: Mr Hedley, Yousef and Abdullah
Position: Electric engineer, ADNOC

First of all, after welcoming the interviewee, Mr.Hedley introduced himself then asked Ali to talk about himself. Khaled said: my name is Khaled, I am 20 years old. Last year I joined HCT and got a GPA of 2.75

Abdullah asked some questions , he said : Why are you interested to work in our company? Khaled answered: because it’s a good and new company . Abdullah asked also : In terms of salary, how much do you expect? He said ; It’s not important because it doesn’t matter because it will be more every time I get advancement .

When Yousef’s turn started, he asked Khaled : Can you work under pressure? And Khaled answered yes. Yousef asked also about Khaled’s goals and he answered learning and creating new things. In general Khaled was confident ,but a little bit confused.
Finally, Mr.Hedley gave Khaled the chance to asked the interviewers, so he asked : what will be my job title? Abdullah said that it will be depending on the free positions in the company. Also Khaled asked : What will be my position? Yousef answered engineering as you expect .
