reflection of presentation 2
Date: Wednesday 23thMay
2012
Room: W007
Time: 10:10
Topic: Prodigality
He introduced himself very well and fast. He said he was going to talk about prodigality in the UAE. He began the presentation with a picture that shows an Emirati man who paid 50 million Dhs for a car number plate. This picture is a symbol about the prodigality in our society.
He used the pictures to explain the problem more clearly. I saw manifestations of the prodigality that I had never seen; the unreasonable banquets, extravagance in the hospitality and spending money in ceremonies (like the Christmas tree in Emirates Palace). Also he discussed the point about giving the child smart phones such as blackberry and i phone, which is prodigal as he said. Finally he talked about the prodigality in water and electricity consumption to cover the entire problem from all sides.
The slides were good and the color was symmetric. Also he put a lot of pictures to use more than words.
His body language was perfect. He moved when he was talking and changing his place in each point of the presentation.
The eye contact was good; he saw the whole class and also when he changed his place he looked to the opposite students.
The questions were not a lot because they came at the end of presentation, but he answered all of them.
My impression is very good. I think he did well and talked about a real problem we face in our society.

Presenter: Old Ahmed
He introduced himself and told us what he was going to talk about. Before he began, he asked some questions, like kind of challenging for us.
He
gave me information about Formula 1 that was the first time I heard it, because
I didn’t have any background about it. Now I know how many teams in Formula1
racing, engine suppliers and tires. Also they change the engine after the race.
Also he talked about the shape of Yas
Island; it looks like a gun (that means fast). Ahmed gave us some important
information about famous people at F1 world e.g the CEO and the first champion
of Formula 1.
The slides were clear and he put pictures easy to understand.
The language was great, and the eye contact was very good because he was seeing all the students in the class and reacting with them.
He answered the questions fluently. Also if he didn’t know the answer, he tried to answer.
He made the presentation interesting by asking questions for us to see what information we had.

meeting reflection
The meeting was great and full of interest. We all did our best. I played participant. I like what I did; that was I added the suggestions for each point fluently. Also I explained the points more clearly after Abdulrahman. We prepared well for presenting a good conversation. Abdulrahman and Salem looked nice. I think we got Mr. Hedley’s’ attention, and deserve a high mark.
Mr. Hedley was also nice; he pushed us to do better by his interventions, whether questions or giving his opinion. He was making the meeting interesting and we sure benefited from his comments.

Time management
Salem thought that organizing a timetable would be useful for students. Rashid supported Salem in his opinion, and he suggested that students should arrange their activities to be at weekends. Abdulrahman said that students do have enough time to study, but the problem is that they use it doing other stuff.
From here we moved to item 2.
Focus on study.
Rashid said that some students are working in addition to their study. Those students have the right to get enough time to study by getting study leave. Abdulrahman agreed. Salem pointed that homework is very important for students to be successful; it prepares them for exam.
Motivation.
Rashid said that dreams are good motivators. Students always try to achieve their childhood dreams. Salem admitted that students who get a high GPA must be given a scholarship (money, and job). That will push them to study more. Abdulrahman wondered if having a scholarship would affect students negatively. From his own experience, Rashid said that he sometimes feels nervous but he always does the best he can so he doesn’t lose his scholarship.
Friendship.
Salem said that friends affect students’ results largely. Good friends will help the students in his homework, share their information with him, and teach him if he didn't understand. On the other hand, Rashid spoke about bad friends. He said that students will not get any benefit from being with them. Abdulrahman proposed the idea of mixing good students with bad ones to exchange their knowledge. Both Salem and Rashid supported the idea.
Suitable major.
Suitable major.
Abdulrahman thought that choosing the best major is very important to be successful. Students must choose a major that they like, not the one that they are good in. Rashid added that their choice must not be affected by their parents or anyone else. Salem agreed.
In conclusion we thought that:
Being a successful student isn’t so easy. It needs a lot of sacrifice.
Being a successful student isn’t so easy. It needs a lot of sacrifice.
The motivation and time management are the most important things to be successfuly.
We liked the idea of giving the best students scholarship.
